Adedeji Bukola Omope, FCPA, today joined the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, on an inspection tour of the Somolu\/Bariga Secondary Canal following yesterday\u2019s heavy rainfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The visit was aimed at assessing the impact of the flooding and identifying immediate and long-term measures to prevent future occurrences. The chairmen inspected critical sections of the canal and assured residents that palliative works would commence immediately while the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources would be engaged to implement lasting flood control solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hon. Adedeji also visited flood-affected areas within Bariga, including Akinwale Street, Rashid Akotun Street, Olowu Canal, Onipe Street, and Obanikoro Oke Ira Community. Responding to residents\u2019 complaints at Obanikoro Oke Ira, she pledged to facilitate the repair of the damaged culvert linking the community to neighbouring areas to improve drainage and accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reaffirming her administration\u2019s commitment to protecting lives and property through proactive environmental management, Hon. Adedeji urged residents to refrain from dumping refuse into drainage channels, stressing that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The inspection was attended by the Vice Chairman, Councillors, Supervisors, members of the Council Management Team, and other senior council officials<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Executive Chairman of Bariga Local Council, Hon.
