A TRAILBLAZER IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION

HON. ADEDEJI BUKOLA OMOPE, FCPA

Bariga LCDA, Lagos State

Hon. Adedeji Bukola Omope, FCPA, is the Executive Chairman of Bariga Local Council, a seasoned administrator, grassroots politician, and passionate advocate for community development.Before her election as Chairman, she served diligently as the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) under the administration of Hon. Alabi Kolade David, where she distinguished herself through dedication, competence, and an unwavering commitment to public service.

Hon. Adedeji made history as the first female Councillor in Bariga when she was elected in 1997 under the then Somolu Local Government administration led by Hon. Sesan Olanrewaju. Her emergence marked a significant milestone in the political advancement of women within the community.

Following the creation of Bariga Local Council in 2003, she was re-elected to continue representing the people of Gbagada/Apelehin Ward under the administration of Hon. Sulaimon Omoyele Oris. Her effective representation and grassroots engagement earned her widespread respect and admiration among constituents. In recognition of her leadership qualities and commitment to social welfare, she later served as Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation during the administration of Hon. Sulaimon Omoyele Oris. In this capacity, she championed initiatives aimed at empowering women, supporting vulnerable groups, and alleviating poverty across the council area.

Driven by her desire to deepen her knowledge of local government administration and public governance, Hon. Adedeji pursued professional development opportunities and was subsequently conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Award by the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria.Since assuming office as the Executive Chairman of Bariga Local Council, Hon. Adedeji Bukola Omope has demonstrated visionary leadership through the execution of numerous people-oriented and transformative projects.

Her administration has prioritized infrastructural development, environmental sustainability, improved security, youth and women empowerment, healthcare delivery, and educational support initiatives—all aimed at enhancing the quality of life and promoting sustainable development across Bariga.

Today, Hon. Adedeji Bukola Omope stands as a symbol of purposeful leadership, resilience, and selfless service, continuing to inspire a new generation of leaders while delivering the dividends of democracy to the good people of Bariga.
